Dr. Funsho Oladipo was a University Scholar and graduated with distinction from the University of Ibadan (Faculty of Medicine) in June 1978. He completed his internship at the General Hospital, Ilorin in 1979.

After completing his NYSC at the Shagamu Local Government Health Central in 1980, he was engaged by the First Shadrack Hospital, Association Ave., Ilupeju, Lagos from 1980 – 1982. In 1982, Dr. Oladipo established his own hospital; R-Jolad Hospital and Maternity Home which has since grown into a best-in-class medical facility offering a broad range of medical, diagnostic, and related services in Lagos.

In 2020, the Hospital was acquired by AfyaCare Nigeria Ltd, he remains the Founder and Managing Director. Amongst his various continuous education and development programs, Dr. Oladipo also completed his leadership training at the Haggai Institute for Leadership Training, Singapore. He is a recipient of many awards in honor of his tireless contribution to society.

Mrs Taba Peterside

Taba Peterside has enjoyed a distinguished and varied career in financial services covering banking, development and microfinance, financial regulation, and research.  She is a graduate of Development Studies (Economics) from the University of Kent, UK, and has a Masters in Development Economics from Dalhousie University, Canada. She is the Founder and CEO of Waveline Growth Partners, a microfinance institution focusing particularly on female-owned businesses.

Before founding Waveline, Mrs Peterside was an executive at Nigerian Exchange Limited. She has also held senior positions in Stanbic IBTC, Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the International Finance Corporation. She is a Certified Microfinance Professional of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria.

Mrs Peterside brings her wealth of experience to several private sector and NGO boards. She serves on the boards of Ecobank Nigeria and CWG Plc, a listed technology service provider, among others. Mrs Peterside is keenly interested in female empowerment and issues around girl child development. She is a Life Member of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (Wimbiz), and has previously served on its Executive Council and various committees.

Mrs Peterside is an active mentor and is passionate about impacting younger generations in business and leadership.

Professor Diane C. Geraghty has been a faculty member of the Loyola University School of Law since 1977. She developed and directed Loyola’s nationally recognized Civitas Child Law Center.

Her teaching, scholarship, and service focus primarily on all aspects of the law as it affects children and families. For nearly a decade, she served as the Director of the Illinois Models for Change Initiative and has also as a Consultant on legal education and children’s rights in Africa and Asia.

She co-chaired Loyola’s new Interdisciplinary Centre on Criminal Justice Research, Policy and Practice. From 2004 to 2005 she served as Interim Dean of the School of Law. She is a recipient of many awards for her contributions to children’s law, including the American Bar Association Livingston Hall Award, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges Award, the Women of Concern Leadership Award, and the Loyola University Chicago’s Faculty Member of the Year Award, 2009.

She has retired but is now a Professor Emerita. She is currently the interim Director of Loyola University Chicago’s Rule of Law Institute.

Hon. Justice Latifat Folami

Hon. Justice Latifat Folami graduated from the University of Lagos and was called into the Nigerian Bar in 1992. She also holds a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Management and Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Nigeria (ICSAN). Her Lordship started her career as a Magistrate in 1996. After serving in various courts, she rose to the position of Chief Registrar and was elevated to the position of a Judge in 2010.

As a High Court Judge, she has served in the Family and Probate Division; Lands Division; FastTrack/Commercial Division; Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and Revenue Departments as well as the Election Petition Tribunal. She is a Trustee of the African Women Lawyers Association; having served as the pioneer Co-coordinator from 2001 to 2005.

She is a recipient of several awards including a Merit Award from the Lagos State Judiciary (2003) and from the Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria Lagos State Branch (December 2008).

Olu Daramola is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He joined the Chambers of Afe Babalola & Co in November 1994 after a brief stint with Tayo Oyetibo & Co. His areas of specialization include commercial law, maritime law, intellectual property, banking, taxation, and aviation.

He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K.) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nigeria. He was admitted into the Inner Bar in 2008. He studied Political Science at the University of Ibadan and later obtained two Master’s Degrees in law, the first from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and the second in Maritime Law, from the University of London.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria, and the UK. He has been in active legal practice since his call to bar and he was elevated to the Inner Bar in December 2008.

Mrs Laide Latinwo

Mrs. Laide Latinwo is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (B.Ed. Home Economic, Upper Class); University of Lagos (Masters in Public Administration), and Lagos State University (Masters in Social Work).

She also holds a Certificate in Medical/Psychiatry Social Work from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. In 2018, she retired as a Director from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development Lagos State.

She had earlier served in various capacities – Assistant Chief Social Welfare Officer and Head, Child Education and Recreation at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (1996-2000), Head of Family Social Services (2000-2001), Chief Social Welfare Officer Rehabilitation Department (2001-2003), Head, Correctional/Elderly Care (2003-2010) and Director, Social Welfare (2010-2011, 2015- 2018), Head, Medical Social Service Unit Lagos University Teaching Hospital (2011- 2015).

She represented the State as a focal person on Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances (CEDC), Urban Basic Services (UBS) Projects, Child Protection System Strengthening (CPSS) coordinated by the UNICEF. In recognition of her impactful contributions to social welfare in Lagos State and Nigeria, a book titled Social Work Practice in Lagos State, Footprints of an Eminent Social Worker was written in her honor in 2018.

In her retirement, she still pursues her passion, offering consultancy services to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on social work and related services.

She is presently pursuing a Post Graduate Programme , Doctor of Social Work (DSW) at the Lagos State University, Ojo

Professor Iyabode Ogunniran, a graduate of the University of Lagos (LLB) (LLM) (Ph.D. Child Justice), a lecturer and researcher in the field of Child Law, Gender and the Law, Constitutional Law and Criminal Justice. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Child Law, University of Pretoria, South Africa (2011) and University of Reading, England (2013-2014). 

Apart from teaching and research, Professor Ogunniran has significant knowledge and experience leading and coordinating major studies on children-related issues for governments and international institutions including the following:

a. She was one of the UNICEF National Consultants on the Child Justice Reform Project. This led to the development of Benue State Adjudication Guideline for Child Offenders 2017, Cross River State Courts Adjudication Guidelines for Child Offenders (Practice Directions), 2016, amongst others.

b. Co-Researcher on the Challenges Of Administration Of Child Justice In Lagos State. – funded by the Central Research Committee (CRC) of the University of Lagos. This led to the publication of Ogunniran, I & Nwanna, R.C. Child Justice Administration under the Child Rights of Lagos State. University of Lagos Press (2016).

c. Lagos Coordinator of the National Baseline Survey on Child Protection Issues in Nigeria (2012). Collaborative research by University of Lagos, National Bureau of Statistics, International Labour Organisation and United Nations Children Fund (UNILAG/NBS/ILO/UNICEF), covering three thematic areas – Child Trafficking, Sexual Exploitation, Prostitution; Child Labour and Youth Crimes (2007-2012).

Professor Ogunniran has attended several international and national conferences where she presented papers on diverse areas of Child Law.

She is also an International Expert/Consultant in diverse areas of Child Law. Her expert opinion on international abduction in the context of family custody and access disputes was heavily relied upon by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Ajayi v Ajayi (2022 ONSC 2678) in declaring the children wrongfully removed and retained and sent back to Nigeria.

She serves in various committees both within and outside the University. She won the “Faculty Best Researcher Award” at the 11th Annual UNILAG Conference and Fair in 2016.
